Overview

When first working in Voyager, some users may notice reduced graphics performance—most commonly lag or stuttering when rotating complex 3D reconstructions. In many cases, this behavior occurs because the web browser is not configured to use the system’s dedicated (standalone) GPU. Adjusting Windows graphics settings to prioritize high-performance hardware can significantly improve rendering performance.

Configure Browser GPU Settings on Windows

Follow the steps below to ensure your browser is using the highest-performance GPU available:
  1. Open Graphics Settings by typing “graphics settings” into the Windows search bar and selecting the result.
  2. Under Graphics performance preference, select Desktop app from the dropdown menu, then click Browse.
  3. Locate your browser’s executable:
    • For Google Chrome, navigate to:
      C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application
    • Other browsers will follow a similar installation path.
  4. Select the browser application file and click Add.
  5. Once the browser appears in the application list, select it and click Options.
  6. Choose High performance (the highest-performance GPU available), then click Save.
  7. Restart your PC to apply the changes.
  8. Reopen Voyager and verify that graphics performance has improved.
