Auto Alignment

Precisely align two meshes using the Auto Alignment feature for better comparisons in Voyager.

Auto Alignment is a tool nested within the alignment object in Voyager. After two meshes have been coarsely aligned using the manual manipulation handles, running Auto Alignment will snap the meshes into a precise, globally calculated average best alignment.

Comparisons calculated between meshes aligned using this method will provide a more precise set of deviations, giving you a greater understanding of the bulk differences between a part and the CAD, or between two scans.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Create an alignment object by clicking the alignment button in the toolbar.
  2. Select the two meshes you wish to align.
  3. Coarsely align them using the manipulation handles.
  4. Click "Run Auto Alignment" and wait for your meshes to snap into alignment.
