How to compare any two scanned objects to detect deviations and flaws.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Select two separate scanned objects to compare. Follow the Mesh Extraction process using the surface tool in a project to create meshes for both parts
https://support.lumafield.com/how-to-export-a-mesh - If the two scanned objects are in the same project, no import is needed. If you are comparing scans from different projects, import the scan into the second project using the Import button
3. Follow the CAD compare workflow

Within the align tool, select the mesh from each scan. Use the handles to manually rotate and overlay the two parts, aligning to the a chosen datum.
4. Once the alignment is complete, use the Comparison tool to run the analysis based on the alignment selected. This will provide a visual to analyze the deviation between the two scan meshes.
You can also take dimensions on cardinal slices of scan-to-scan comparisons. Visit the Inspection Planes support page to learn more.
