Angularity checks that a face or an axis sits at the drawing’s angle to its datums. In ASME Y14.5 it is an orientation tolerance. It does not locate the feature. A face can sit at the correct angle and still be in the wrong place; that location is Position or a Direct Dimension. Angularity is in the Orientation group in the Toolbar in Dimensioning Mode, next to Perpendicularity and Parallelism.

Which features it accepts

  • A plane — a face that should sit at the drawing’s angle to the datum.
  • An axis — a hole or a pin whose axis should sit at that angle.
The angle is the basic angle from the drawing. It is not 0° or 90°. Those cases are Parallelism and Perpendicularity.

The tolerance zone

The zone is oriented at the drawing’s angle to the primary datum. The tolerance is how far the face or the axis may lean out of that zone, in millimeters. The check does not control where along the part the feature sits.

Workflow

1

Select Angularity

Choose Angularity from the Toolbar, or right-click a plane or an axis and choose Add angularity control….
2

Pick the feature

Click the face or the axis to control. Eligible features highlight on hover.
3

Select the datums

Pick the primary datum. Properties and Tolerance stay locked until the feature and its datums are picked.
4

Set the angle, then tolerance

Enter the angle from the drawing in Properties. Tolerance is optional: add it with +. See How every check works.
5

Place the callout and submit

The callout section opens once a feature is picked. Submit to add the control to the feature set. Drag the leader to place the label.

Reading the result

The callout reports how far the feature leans out of the angled zone, and whether that is inside the tolerance. Measured in names the datums. Open freedoms lists motion the datums did not stop. Edit the tolerance afterward; the pass or fail state updates without a new extraction.
