On-Prem: Project Limits and Storage

Understanding storage and project management within Voyager on your On-Prem system.

The Lumafield platform is designed to empower teams to scan as much as they need. In order to provide this, we have introduced some key concepts related to storage and project management. Working with these concepts allows your team to understand what your storage requirements are, and if necessary, adjust your approach to On-Prem project management.

How is storage limited?

Your organization has an "Active Project Limit" defined by the number of active projects your organization has purchased. This limit has been defined and set as part of application development for On-Prem systems.

Property 1=Active Icon

An Active Project is a 3D project with a full CT scan and Reconstruction wherein new analyses and data can be authored. When a scan has completed, an Active Project is the result of that scan. These projects support the creation of new data via Recipe or via usage of Voyager tools.

Property 1=No EditAn Archived Project is a 3D project with a full CT scan and Reconstruction wherein new analyses and data can no longer be authored. The full set of resulting analyses, data objects, meshes, bookmarks, etc. are all included in an archived project. This means an archived project can be thought of as a project that has been "processed", but is still fully available for anyone to access at any time in the future. The only limitation is the inability to create new data.

Property 1=Pinned IconActive Projects can be Pinned in order to keep them permanently active. The number of pinned projects within your organization cannot exceed your Active Project Limit.

In Summary:

  • Your organization has an Active Project Limit
  • Active Projects are 3D projects that editors have read / write access to.
  • Archived projects are 3D projects that any org member has read access to.
  • Pinned projects are active projects that remain active and cannot be archived.

It is worth noting that non-3D projects, such as single radiograph captures or mesh-based projects are not counted towards your Active Project Limit. These projects do not have an indicator on their project tile.

How are Projects Archived?

Active Projects are archived in one of two ways, either manually (one by one by a human using the right click menu of the dashboard) or automatically (by our system after automatic archive has been turned on, starting with "least recently accessed" first).

Lumafield understands that managing your Active Project Limit can be challenging if you are scanning at high volumes. In addition, it is frustrating to accidentally archive a project if you are still actively analyzing and working with that data.

Because of this, organizations have the option to manage their data either manually or automatically. Each organization manager has access to enable and disable automatic archive functionality.

When automatic archive is enabled, a warning screen will show to confirm to the manager that enabling automatic archive will automatically archive some projects in their organization.

Otherwise, it is up to each organization to manually archive projects that are not in use.

No project data will be archived automatically if automatic archive is turned off.

As mentioned above, Lumafield offers Unlimited Archived projects, and we recommend enabling automatic archive, or purchasing more storage if you wish to keep large numbers of Active 3D projects.

Conclusion

Using the Lumafield Platform, you can easily manage and organize your projects according to your needs. Full CT scans become Active Projects initially, and these projects can be Pinned to keep them active or Archived to save them as records. Voyager Managers can enable or disable Automatic Archive for their organization, and everyone across a Voyager Organization can easily inspect the status of a project and the overall storage usage of the Organization.
